About Us

The Tesoro Tribune is a collaborative effort between members of Tesoro’s publications field.

The staff is made up of freshmen, sophomores, junior and senior writers and photographers, who work for the Titanium Yearbook and the Tesoro Tribune.

Sally French (12) is the Tesoro Tribune’s Web Editor. Her best Tesoro memory is trekking up to the ‘T’ to take a panorama photo during a football game, when she was breathalyzed three times and threatened by Titan bureaucracy for her actions, which – unknown to herself – were illegal. French is shorter than Napoleon and hopes to one day conquer Russia in the winter. In addition to covering Tesoro news, she also works as a freelance reporter for the Orange County Register. Kelly Olejnik (12) is the Tesoro Tribune’s News Editor. Journalism is her everything, even though she is reminded by her parents frequently that journalists do not make money. She has been practicing Shotokan Karate for 12 years, and yes she is a black belt and no she can not break boards. She absolutely adores the beach and someday she will learn how to surf just like Kelly Slater. She likes to make use of retro lingo and says the word ‘bogus’ on a regular basis. Ryan “Lowy” Lowy (12) is half of the Tribune’s Web Designer team and the only member of the Web Team in the excessively early 0 period. While it is his first year on staff he already feels like he’s part of the amazing family that is Tesoro Publications. He feels the best part of his Sen10r year is his lack of a fourth or sixth period giving him more time for gaming, music, Model United Nations, Boy Scouts, photography, and various other activities which are too geeky to list here. Veronika Sieben (12) is the Copy Editor for the Tesoro Tribune.  Between assigning articles, editing articles, and hounding people to finish articles, she finds the time to enjoy her Sen10r year working on the build crew for Tesoro Theatre Arts.  Outside of school, she spends most of her time at Laser Quest, unfortunately not playing, but running the games.  She’s going to miss Tesoro as she goes on to the University of Montana as a part of the Honors College.  If you want to see an article written, be sure to email her at veronika.sieben@tesoropress.com. 

Andy Whelan (10) is the younger of the Tribune’s two Web Designers, and the only non-senior involved in the Tribune’s Web Team. He is enjoying his first year on Tesoro’s yearbook and newspaper staff, along with all the perks it entails. Surrounded by seniors, he dreams loftily of a stressfully fun senior year. He enjoys high-quality .jpgs, walks in the rain, pugs, and Chinese food. He does not like, however, irritable people, trumpets, suffering from migraines, or people that insist on trying to learn the bassoon despite his constant attempts at persuasion.
